Holi- It’s a festival to express love with colours, which is a key element of this collection.

Holi is a popular ancient Hindu festival, also known as the Festival of Spring, the Festival of Colours or the Festival of Love. The festival celebrates the eternal and divine love of Radha Krishna. During Holi, people dance through the streets and throw coloured powder on each other. The festival is a happy time when people come together as one and let go of their inhibitions of different colours, religions or communities. Few of the paintings in my collection clearly depict the celebration of Holi showing a large community of people gathered together amongst the colours with another painting of a cow, a holy animal in Hinduism, covered in coloured powder.

I wanted to use this theme to incorporate my own culture into my art as I do with many of my other paintings and thought Holi would be the perfect festival to compliment the theme of ‘colours’ and summer
