A few years ago, a close friend who is a renowned photographer introduced me to a profoundly touching celebration that defied oppressive traditions.
Widowhood, once burdened by social stigma from archaic practices like sati to enduring neglect from society, subjected widows to wear white and live a life of austerity, devoting themselves entirely to God. Estranged from the joy of festive celebrations and excluded from societal engagement, widows found solace in the confines of solitude. However, Sulabh International NGO embarked on a noble mission to infuse vibrancy into these colorless lives by organizing the festival of colors - Holi, traditionally celebrated with the exuberant splashes of gulal (colored powder) and the fragrance of flowers.
The depth of the cause deeply touched me, yet it was the lively scenes of the celebration that truly captured my heart, motivating me to start a journey of artistic expression, each brushstroke filled with the colors of hope, strength, and the uplifting essence of happiness.
