TIP 1: HANG AT EYE LEVEL
The centre of artwork should be at eye level. Considering the average height of adults between 5 to 6 feet, the centre of artwork can be approximately 60-66 inches above floor.
1. For a big artwork centre of frame is the point of reference
2. For a collage or hanging multiple artwork together, consider the whole group as one artwork and find the centre.
TIP 2: HANGING ABOVE FURNITURE
If an artwork is to be hanged above bed, sofa or a console table then
1. Take centre point at eye level as first reference
2. Bottom edge of artwork should be approximately 12 inch above the furniture as a second reference
TIP 3: WIDTH WISE PLACEMENT
1. Avoid hanging small piece above a wider furniture for eg: A4 size work above a 3 seater sofa or bed
2. Cover a 2/3rd of the space above a wider furniture. Use a wider artwork or make a collection of 2, 3 or 5 pieces to cover the 2/3rd of width of furniture.
3. Hanging the multiple artwork at same level is more contemporary way than hanging them diagonally
TIP 4: MULTIPLE PIECES
1. For a set of artworks , for example 2 similar artworks comes as a set should be hanged together on same wall.
2. A group of 2, 3 of 5 artworks works as a magic number for impressive impact
TIP 5: MOUNT AND FRAMES
1. A bigger frame with wider mount can be used to frame a small size artwork which makes it look grander.
2. A contrast colour mount should be used. For example, a light colour artwork with black mount or dark colour framework with white mount enhances the overall look of the artworks
